Shopping for top-rated RTA cabinets can be confusing. Cabinet companies use different construction methods, price points, door styles and terminology, making it difficult to determine whether one cabinet line really offers better value than another.
At The RTA Shop, we sell several cabinet lines at very different price points, including 21st Century Cabinetry, ProCraft Cabinetry, Jarlin Cabinetry, Eurocraft Cabinetry and Fabuwood. Rather than simply telling you that every cabinet we sell is “the best,” we think it is more useful to look at the differences between them—and at what independent industry professionals have said about their construction quality and value.
One useful independent resource is Main Line Kitchen Design’s 2026 Cabinet Reviews, which rates 157 cabinet brands based on construction quality, price level and value. Several cabinet lines available through The RTA Shop received some of the highest ratings in their respective price categories.
2026 Cabinet Ratings: How Our Cabinet Lines Compare
Main Line Kitchen Design uses a price scale from 1 to 6, with 1 representing the least expensive cabinet brands and 6 representing high-end custom cabinetry. Its ratings assume that a cabinet line is upgraded to its best available construction, typically all-plywood construction.
| Cabinet Line | Price Level | Quality | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| 21st Century Cabinetry | 1 | A | A- |
| ProCraft Cabinetry | 1 | A | A- |
| Fabuwood | 2 | A | A |
| Fabuwood (Frameless) | 2 | B- | B |
| Eurocraft Frameless | 3.5 | C | C+ |
| Jarlin Cabinetry | Not Rated | Not Rated | Not Rated |
Source: Main Line Kitchen Design, “Cabinet Reviews: Ratings for the top 157 cabinet brands,” 2026. Ratings are those of Main Line Kitchen Design and do not represent ratings created by The RTA Shop.
One result immediately stands out: 21st Century and ProCraft both receive an A for quality while occupying Main Line’s lowest price category. Fabuwood receives an A for both quality and value at price level 2. For homeowners trying to maximize cabinet quality without moving into expensive custom cabinetry, those ratings deserve attention.
What Do These Cabinet Ratings Actually Mean?
It is important to understand the methodology before comparing the grades. An “A” at price level 1 does not mean that an inexpensive cabinet offers every finish, customization or construction option available from a cabinet line at price level 5 or 6.
Higher-priced semi-custom and custom cabinetry can offer substantially more choices in wood species, finishes, door styles, sizes and factory modifications. You may be paying considerably more for those choices rather than simply paying for a cabinet box that lasts longer.
That distinction is one of the reasons we believe inexpensive, well-constructed cabinet lines can represent such compelling value. If a lower-priced manufacturer offers the door style, finish, cabinet sizes and options your project requires, there may be little reason to move into a substantially more expensive cabinet line simply because it carries a higher price tag.
21st Century Cabinetry: A-Rated Quality at Price Level 1
21st Century Cabinetry is particularly interesting from a value perspective. Main Line Kitchen Design’s 2026 ratings give 21st Century an A for quality and A- for value while placing it at price level 1.
For shoppers primarily interested in strong cabinet construction at an economical price, that combination makes 21st Century worth considering. The line offers popular contemporary and traditional door styles along with the features many homeowners now expect from an all-wood RTA cabinet line.
It can be an especially attractive choice when your project works within the sizes, finishes and configurations available in the line and you do not need the broader customization capabilities of a semi-custom manufacturer.
ProCraft Cabinetry: Another A-Rated Value Option
ProCraft Cabinetry receives the same impressive 2026 Main Line ratings as 21st Century: A for quality, A- for value and price level 1.
Main Line Kitchen Design has also specifically identified ProCraft as one of the inexpensive, well-constructed cabinet brands it considers among the better cabinet brands for the money.
That makes ProCraft another strong option for homeowners, contractors, investors and remodelers who want to put more of their budget into the project itself rather than paying a premium simply for the cabinet brand name.
Fabuwood: A Step Up in Selection and Flexibility
Fabuwood occupies a somewhat different position. Main Line Kitchen Design places its framed cabinetry at price level 2 and awards it an A for quality and A for value.
Fabuwood is an excellent option for projects that need more choices and flexibility than many entry-level RTA lines provide. Its catalog includes a broad range of cabinet configurations, accessories and factory modifications, allowing a professional designer to solve situations that may be difficult or impossible with a more limited stock cabinet line.
That additional flexibility can become particularly valuable in larger or more complicated kitchens. The least expensive cabinet is not necessarily the best choice if the available sizes and configurations cannot properly execute the design.
Main Line Kitchen Design also named Fabuwood among the stronger lower-priced cabinet brands in its 2026 discussion of the best cabinet brands for the money.
What About Eurocraft’s Lower Rating?
Eurocraft needs to be evaluated somewhat differently because it is a frameless European-style cabinet line. Main Line Kitchen Design gives Eurocraft Frameless a C for quality and C+ for value at price level 3.5.
Those grades should be viewed in the context of Main Line’s rating methodology. Main Line generally rates traditional framed cabinet construction more highly than European-style frameless construction. Its methodology therefore makes it difficult for any frameless line to receive the same construction grade as its highest-rated framed cabinet lines.
Frameless cabinetry serves a different customer. It is often selected for its clean European appearance, full-access cabinet construction and contemporary slab-door finishes rather than because a customer is trying to duplicate the look of a traditional framed American kitchen.
If your priority is a modern kitchen with slab doors and contemporary finishes, comparing Eurocraft only by its letter grade against a traditional framed cabinet does not tell the whole story. Construction method, appearance, available finishes and the requirements of the project all matter.
Why Isn’t Jarlin Cabinetry Rated?
Jarlin Cabinetry does not currently appear in Main Line Kitchen Design’s 2026 cabinet ratings. For that reason, we do not assign Jarlin a third-party quality or value grade or attempt to infer one from another manufacturer.
Jarlin remains one of the cabinet lines available through The RTA Shop and offers a broad selection of affordable RTA cabinetry. The absence of a manufacturer from one independent rating list should not be interpreted as either a positive or negative rating—it simply means there is no Main Line rating for us to report.
Framed vs. Frameless Cabinets: Don’t Compare Letter Grades Alone
One of the biggest mistakes shoppers can make when reading cabinet ratings is assuming every cabinet is trying to accomplish the same thing.
Framed cabinets use a face frame attached to the front of the cabinet box. This is the traditional construction method used by many American cabinet manufacturers and is the construction style used by many popular RTA cabinet lines.
Frameless cabinets, sometimes called European-style cabinets, eliminate the front face frame. They provide a different appearance and interior access and are particularly popular in modern and contemporary kitchens.
Neither buying decision should be based on a single letter grade. The better question is: Which cabinet construction, finish, available sizes and customization options make sense for your particular project and budget?
RTA Cabinets vs. More Expensive Cabinetry
Ready-to-assemble cabinetry can offer exceptional value because you are not necessarily paying for the same level of customization, factory assembly, showroom overhead and bundled services associated with more expensive cabinet programs.
But “RTA” by itself does not describe cabinet quality. There are inexpensive RTA cabinets with basic construction, and there are well-constructed RTA cabinet lines using plywood boxes, dovetail drawers and soft-close hardware. Construction specifications matter much more than the RTA label alone.
The 2026 ratings illustrate this point particularly well. Both 21st Century and ProCraft sit at the bottom of Main Line’s price scale yet receive an A for construction quality. Fabuwood, at price level 2, also receives an A.
Professional Kitchen Design Is Different From Cabinet Pricing
There is another cost that is often hidden when consumers compare cabinet prices: kitchen design.
Creating an accurate kitchen design requires much more than producing an attractive rendering. A designer must evaluate cabinet sizes, appliances, openings, clearances, fillers, finished panels, moldings, accessories and other details that determine which components actually need to be ordered.
Many cabinet retailers advertise “free design,” but the cost of providing that professional service ultimately has to be recovered somewhere in the business.
The RTA Shop uses a different model. We separate professional kitchen design from cabinet pricing. Customers who need professional design can purchase a design package and work with an experienced, NKBA-certified kitchen designer. Customers who already have a finalized list of the exact cabinets and components they need can shop and price available cabinetry directly on our website.
This allows us to price the cabinetry aggressively rather than requiring every cabinet customer to absorb the cost of design services through higher product margins.
Already Have a Kitchen Design?
If you already have a design, it is important to determine whether you have an actual manufacturer-specific cabinet list or simply a floor plan and renderings.
A design created for one cabinet manufacturer cannot necessarily be ordered cabinet-for-cabinet from another. Cabinet dimensions, available configurations, panels, fillers, moldings, accessories and factory modifications vary by manufacturer.
If you already know the exact cabinet SKUs and components you need, you can select and price available products directly on The RTA Shop website. If you need someone to determine which cabinets and components are required from your measurements, plans or another manufacturer’s design, that is professional design work and is available through our design service.
So, What Are the Best RTA Cabinets?
There is no single cabinet line that is best for every project. Based on the current ratings and the differences between these product lines, we would think about the decision this way:
- 21st Century Cabinetry: A compelling option when price and strong framed construction are major priorities.
- ProCraft Cabinetry: Another highly rated, economical choice for customers seeking strong construction at an entry-level price point.
- Fabuwood: An excellent choice when you want highly rated construction along with a broader selection of cabinet configurations, options and modifications.
- Jarlin Cabinetry: An affordable RTA option with a broad catalog, although it is not currently rated by Main Line Kitchen Design.
- Eurocraft: Best considered separately from traditional framed RTA cabinetry when the goal is a modern, European-style frameless kitchen.
The right answer ultimately depends on the design. A straightforward kitchen may fit perfectly within an economical RTA line. A complicated kitchen with unusual dimensions, specialized storage requirements or numerous modifications may justify moving into a cabinet line with greater flexibility.
A Different Way to Buy Kitchen Cabinets
At The RTA Shop, our goal is not to convince every customer to purchase the most expensive cabinet we sell. It is to give customers access to quality cabinetry at competitive prices and let them pay for professional design when they actually need professional design.
That means you can compare cabinet styles and prices online, choose from multiple cabinet manufacturers, and purchase professional kitchen design separately when your project requires it.
If you already have a finalized cabinet list, start shopping our cabinet collections and compare pricing directly. If you need a professional to turn your measurements, ideas or existing plans into a manufacturer-specific cabinet layout and itemized cabinet list, learn more about our Professional Kitchen Design service.
